The twin moons hung high in the sky, casting their pale pink light over the lands like the gaze of some great beast; something cold and distant and very, very old. Oriah crouched in the dirt with Addersean at her side, watching and waiting. A chill breeze blew across the valley, rustling the tall grass surrounding the both of them.

It was enough ambient noise for her to feel safe whispering, "time check?"

There was a muffled huff next to her, then the click of a pocket watch being flipped open. A brief pause and...

"Six hours. Seventeen minutes," Addersean muttered, flipping the watch closed again. "Only ten minutes less than the last time you asked. Y'know? Ten minutes ago?"

Oriah briefly considered hitting them. "Yes, yes, I understand, thank you for your input." She kept her eyes firmly on the mountainous horizon, occasionally scanning across the valley itself as she responded. "We need to stay vigilant and follow the plan. There's no room for errors, we won't be getting a second chance here".

"I know, Istarix. I went to the same meetings you did," they groaned. Then, their voice turned mocking, "and I seem to remember the emphasis of stealth in them. Stealth as in silence, so why don't we be be quiet for a bit, hmm?"

Irritatingly, Addersean had a point. She didn't waste her breath on a response, her silence was enough of an answer.

The twin moons moved slowly, steadily across the sky. She tried to get comfortable on the ground, they both had a long night ahead of them.
